dns management and ssl certificate setup

03
Server Setup

Prepare your server

Connect to your Linux server via SSH and create a folder for your site files. Install the web server software and configure the document root. Open ports 80 and 443 in the firewall to allow traffic. Point your DNS records at the server and install a certificate to enable secure connections.

01

Open project

Launch the agent and open your working folder.

02

Edit config

Read the server config and apply changes.

03

Run test

Execute the config test command to verify syntax.

04

Check result

View the exit code and confirm the service runs.

DNS Plan Example

dns-records.txt
# DNS records for example.com
@ 3600 A 203.0.113.10
www CNAME example.com
@ 3600 MX 10 mail.example.com
@ 3600 TXT v=spf1 include:example.com ~all
@ 3600 NS ns1.example.com
@ 3600 NS ns2.example.com
# TTL note: changes take time

A plain zone file for the reserved example.com domain. It includes an A record for the address, a CNAME for the alias, MX for mail, and a TXT record. The TTL is set to 3600 seconds for caching.

Configure your server

dns management

Connect to your Linux server via SSH and run nslookup to verify the current DNS configuration before making any changes to the zone file. Check the zone file. Use read_file to view the existing settings carefully before proceeding with edits. Edit the file with edit_file to update the necessary records. The agent shows a diff so you can review the changes. This approach to dns management keeps your data consistent and clear. A local web server fails for some users when records are incorrect. Switch to Ask first mode to pause before applying edits.

install ssl certificate

Read the official documentation for your certificate authority using http_get, and request the certificate after proving domain control to the issuer so you can proceed with the installation process. Install the files. Edit the configuration to point to the new certificate files. Run the web server's config-test command to ensure the syntax is correct. Reload the service and verify the HTTPS connection with http_get. Set up automatic renewal and test it to avoid expiration. This process is ideal for web hosting as a complete beginner who wants to secure their site. SSL certificate setup is critical for securing your web traffic.
